We’ve come to the finale of our Home Office Makeover, and I’m happy to say that our office is finally an organized functional space.
So, let’s get the show on the road! This part of the DIY project is best represented visually, and my hubby will be the star of this show.
First, gather your tools and a general sketch of what the final product should look like:
Tip: Use masking tape to assure you are hanging your wall mounts straight.

We hung tape horizontally & vertically, using the level, and made our marks on the tape to drill our holes
Next, drill those holes!
Alright, now that those holes are ready, it’s time to start installing some hardware.
Tip: Use a yard stick to make sure measurements between brackets are the same on the top and the bottom, and a level to make sure they are straight up and down.
Okay, the hard part is complete! Whew! We felt like “Bob the Builder” at this point! Now you can hang the shelves – almost there!!
Tip: Use the items you planned your shelving unit around while hanging the shelves in order to adjust height if necessary. For us it was our jogging stroller, vacuum, and 12″ x 12″ canvas boxes.
Time for the fun stuff: fill the shelves! I have a few at-home businesses that I keep inventory for, and various supplies, so that is what the top shelves are for, while the bottom shelf is mostly for various items that we use regularly. Take a look:
And, just to give you perspective, here is the photo from my first post; the “before”:
I think you can agree that it has come a long way! We are so happy with the results, and my husband reports that he is comfortably working in his newly organized space, and no longer has anxiety about entering the room.
Thank you for following me on my journey, and I hope it has helped or inspired you to organize your “catch-all” room or space!
